MYSEA International Event Held in Jordan
‘Promoting Employability in the Green & Blue Economy’
Under the patronage of H.E. Prof. Rida Shibli, former Minister of Agriculture in Jordan, the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) held the Mid-Term Event of MYSEA Project on May 26th 2022 at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center of Hilton Dead Sea Resort and Spa.
Local Coordinator for MYSEA Project at JUST Prof. Fahmi Abu Al-Rub inaugurated the meeting with a welcome note. In his speech, the Coordinator at the Joint Technical Secretariat at the ENI CBC Med Fabrizio Paloni stressed the importance of the Project and the key factors related to its success. In turn, the Coordinator of Eastern Mediterranean Office at the ENI CBC Med Dr. Esmat Karadsheh highlighted the impact of MYSEA vis-à-vis the designated sectors and the unique opportunities it provides to the target groups.
The Endorsement Speech was provided by Prof. Shibli who gave a global overview about the situation in Jordan and the region while emphasizing the significance of the TVET sector to education in general and to the job market in specific.
Director of the International Cooperation and Co-Development Sector at the Lead Partner CIES Onlus Loredana Gionne presented the objectives of the Project, the work packages, as well as the stages and the benefits it holds for the beneficiaries in the partnering countries.
MYSEA Project Manager at the University of Palermo Mr. Antonio Galati presented the Cross Border Analysis and consequently exposed the research methodology, the structure and the outcomes of the conducted study.
The event was attended by a high number of keynote speakers from the Mediterranean countries: institutional and civil society representatives, experts from training institutions, agri-food, waste management and renewable energy sectors.
The conference constituted an occasion to showcase the best practices in the Green and Blue Economy, and on increasing the employability of Youth, Women and NEETs in the labor markets related to Agri-food and Waste Management.
The Mid-Term Event was preceded on May 24th and 25th by a series of round table meetings dedicated for the Transnational Project Management Unit (TPMU) and the Steering Committee (SC).
MYSEA Project seeks to develop training oriented to both sectors and strengthening local governance and sector-skills alliances between economic actors and TVET institutions to align the education curricula with sector’s needs.
